My Books: The Body Book 1, 2, and soon 3 - By Felicia

I have always loved writing. Writing is my passion. That’s actually why I started CookyLela News!

But everything has to start somewhere. For me, this started when I was a toddler. At 3 years old, I took a notebook that I found around the house and started writing. I just started writing with no help. Maybe my handwriting was messy, but I was still writing. I was writing magical, fantastical stories. I was writing about events that happened to me in real life. Whatever the topic, writing made me happy.

And so did reading. I loved reading so much. I devoured picture books and poem compilations faster than you could say “CookyLela News”. One year later, I was accelerating through novels such as Charlotte’s Web and Harriet the Spy. But most of all, I was reading science and math-related books. I wasn’t learning to read anymore. I was reading to learn. This reading gave me an amazing vocabulary. All the more raindrops for my rainforest mind!

One fine summer afternoon, at seven years old, I was feeling bored. Sitting in my room, looking out the window, doing nothing. Suddenly, I had an idea. I quickly grabbed some paper, a pencil, and some markers. I was going to write a book about the human body.

Writing the book was super fun. Each day after lunch, I sprinted over to my luscious pink rug next to the window. I put my paper on a stool and my materials on the floor. Then I sat down on the rug, eager to write and finish my next chapter. After about three months, I finally finished my forty-six page book. Phew!

Back then, typing wasn’t the easiest for my minuscule fingers. Writing was fun, but typing was NOT. Unfortunately, to actually publish my book, I would need to type it out. Type out 46 pages? Uh-uh. Nope. However, this was an unavoidable step. After one month of painstakingly typing out my book, I was finally ready. Using Kindle Publishing by Amazon, I added the final touches and I published the book on September 19, 2017. Finally!

Now, I am on the brink of publishing my third and final Body Book before the end of 2021. Once it’s published, I will update this article with the link. Stay tuned to see more!
