Majungasaurus is a carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period in Madagascar. It was characterized by a squat and broad muzzle, a strange horn in the center of the forehead and very short front legs. The shape of the skull of the abelisaurids, the family to which the Majungasaurus belongs, suggests that these predators killed their prey with powerful and lethal bites to the throat and spine, as do the felines of today. The Majungasaurus is also the only carnivorous dinosaur for which cannibal behavior has been documented.
