Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade, 23 years old, passes away from stage-four cancer

“If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time.”
On August 27, 2021, Technoblade, 22 at the time, posted a thirteen-minute-long video entitled “where I’ve been”. He reported that at the end of July, he’d started to feel some pain in his arm. Thinking it was a repetitive stress injury caused by playing video games too much, he decided to take a few days’ break from Minecraft.
However, after the rest period, his injury seemed to have worsened; his shoulder had started to swell and he instead suspected a broken bone. Because of this, he decided to check his arm out at the doctors, where he received his diagnosis.
“They ran a couple of scans, and they came back, and they told me that, uh, the reason that my arm hurts is because, uh, I have cancer.”
Yesterday evening, or June 30, 2022, Technoblade, 23 years old, released a final goodbye video, “so long nerds”, narrated by his father. He revealed that his real name was Alex and not Dave; one of his siblings had jokingly called him Dave in a deleted video from 2016, and it was “one of the most successful pranks we’ve ever done.”
“Thanks to everyone that bought hoodies, plushies, and channel memberships, he continued. “Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time. Because those were the happiest years of my life.”
“I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous, and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
Rest in peace, Technoblade/Alex. You shaped the childhood of millions of people, including me. Even in the toughest of times, you kept your effortless sense of humour. Thank you for all the happy memories, laughs and smiles you’ve gifted us. I miss you.
